Αττική οδός: fare reduced to 2.5 euros from Sunday 6 October


The toll on the Atiki odos road (Αττική οδός) from October 6, 2024 will be 2.50 euros instead of the current 2.80 euros.

This the reduction comes into force after the conclusion of a new concession contract for Atiki odosas announced by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at a cabinet meeting on August 28. From Sunday 6 October Αττική οδός will have a new operation and maintenance company, i.e. concessionaire. Attiki Odos SA is being transferred to the management of the New Attiki Odos Concession MAE, which will be responsible for the city highway for the next 25 years.

Tender for new contract was announced in January 2022. In July 2023, proposals for six investment schemes were received and in October 2023 the contractor was awarded a project valued at 3,270,000,000 euros.

This amount will be paid in one lump sum and the state, through the Greek Public Development Fund, will receive 7.5% of Attiki Odos' gross revenue annually for the entire duration of the concession agreement.

A publication source at the Ministry of Transport explained that all work recently completed on Αττική οδός (asphalt laying) is covered by the contract.

As noted by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras, the contract also provides for permanent exemption from paying tolls for private passenger vehicles owned by disabled people and severely disabled war veterans.

It is provided that ownership and possession of mobile equipment provided to subscribers, such as transponders (electronic passports and transit cards), will be transferred to the concessionaire without delivery. Subscribers will remain the owners of this equipment, so they You won’t have to return your e-passports or get new ones.
