In August, banks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) began blocking payments from Russia for electronic parts and household electronics, the Kommersant newspaper wrote on its website today.
According to the publication, the blocking is applied in cases where these goods are imported to the UAE. “Russian organizations used companies in the UAE to transfer money to purchase electronics in China, but these goods were immediately sent to the Russian Federation,” the source told the publication.
According to the same source, when making payments through the UAE, the commission is 1-3%. Banks did not accept transactions, fearing the introduction of additional sanctions by the United States.
