Tourist Missing on Samos Found Dead


A Dutch tourist who went missing last Thursday (August 22) has been found dead on the Greek island of Samos.

As reported by samosvoice.gr, the body of the unfortunate Dutch woman was found by a Belgian who was with the Dutch rescuers searching for Bridget. The police and the EKAV ambulance arrived at the scene.

As previously reported by the Athens News, 65-year-old Brigitte van Gennip was on holiday on the island and stayed at a hotel in Pythagorio. She called a friend and told her about her plans for Thursday, August 22. When the woman did not respond on Friday morning, the friend reported her missing to the police and said that Bridget had been missing since 10:30 a.m. and that she had been walking towards the Eupalinio Depression.

From that moment on, a search operation began, which ended today, August 28, when the lifeless body of the tourist was discovered.

According to the information, the woman was spotted by a member of the Dutch rescue team working together with the Samos Police Department under the command of Panagia Spiliani in the vast area of ​​the Eupalinos Gorge.
