Xanthi: 33-year-old paragliding instructor dies after losing control and falling from a great height


A paragliding instructor died tragically in Xanthi on Wednesday afternoon after falling from a great height and losing control for unknown reasons.

The 33-year-old instructor loved the sport and often enjoyed flying over his hometown of Mytilene.

The mother of the tragically deceased had lost two more children in car accidents. The pilot was from Mytilene and was on holiday with his family in Mandra in the municipality of Avdira in Xanthi. Being an experienced pilot, he decided to make a short flight with a paraglider. However, he lost control and fell from a great height, which led to his tragic death.

He loved sports. The news of his death caused inexpressible grief among his relatives, friends and acquaintances in Loutropoli Thermis. The deceased was well known in the community both for his professional status as a paragliding instructor and for his passion for this sport. He often enjoyed flying over his home town of Mytilene, where he had developed close relationships with other enthusiasts of this sport.

The cause of the incident is being investigated by the competent authorities, who are trying to find out the exact circumstances under which the accident occurred.
