Kyriakos Mitsotakis quietly and almost ran out of the Penteli town hall, where he had been holding a meeting to discuss a plan to rebuild areas of northeastern Attica devastated by a fire that started in Varnabas and reached Vrilisia.
The reason was that a large crowd had gathered at the meeting place to express their negative attitude towards the Prime Minister.
“Resign!” the crowd shouted as Kyriakos Mitsotakis left after the meeting in Penteli.
The crowd greeted him with whistles, derogatory gestures and chants of “thief”, while a powerful police force with MAT squads formed a cordon to prevent the angry citizens from approaching the Prime Minister.

«Murderers, you are murderers.” people shouted, while others called on Kyriakos Mitsotakis to resign.

During the meeting, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who said he was pleased with the response of the civil defense mechanism, stated that “this fire is gone“, And “We are here to discuss restoration and compensation for damages.“.
The sight of the Prime Minister smiling and keeping his hands in his pockets during the visit was far from inspiring, which further inflamed the crowd.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis said it was impossible to make everyone happy by adhering to the concept of progress: “We have made some steps forward, but we cannot be satisfied when something goes wrong.“. “We must move quickly.“,” he argued, in order to rehabilitate fire victims, carry out flood control and reforestation work.

From today's visit of an unconscious man to the burnt Penteli. Admire the smile and count the policemen. Kikilias and Hardalias are absent.
That is, after every disaster that his government failed to cope with, he repeated the same familiar mantra, according to which “priority should be given to flood control works on the streams, especially in Penteli, Vrilissia, Halandri”, and added that the restoration must be done quickly to change the psychology of citizens.

The conference was not without blame-shifting, with Kyriakos Mitsotakis linking the catastrophic fire to uncleared areas: «Everyone has to do their job, and that was clear from the evidence presented to us. Did we do everything perfectly? Obviously not. But we must support the cleanup program.” he said. He then lashed out at the opposition, saying: “We have toxicity and polarization from the opposition, but the tasks are big. We are moving forward.”
If the trend does not change and Kyriakos Mitsotakis continues to decide important issues of the country in this way, he will soon be unable to speak in public, as Greek citizens will react even more sharply to his manifestations of incompetence with protests and acts of disobedience.
