A. Georgiadis: "The owners are responsible for all houses that burn down."

Health Minister Adonis Georgiades made (another) an unprecedentedly cynical statement about the owners of more than 100 housesburned in the north-east of Attica, accusing them of not cleaning up their plots and therefore they were burned by fire.

He said he came to this conclusion because “the owners have made no statements regarding the cleanup.” He even stated that those who booed Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Penteli are… “left“.

According to him, satellite photographs have proven that “Eight out of 10 damaged homes did not file a cleanup request, and two out of 10 that did had minor damage.” Of course, this does not justify the government's failure to put out the fire, since the gross collection figures contradict it.

He goes on to state that “Anyone who cleared their yard and surrounding area was not in danger.” Despite complaints and outrage from residents over the fire that has burned more than 100,000 acres, Adonis Georgiades said he is not willing to listen to “funny” accusations against a non-existent state that day.

That is, the Minister of Health and Vice President of the New Democracy party cannot accept criticism of the government for its inability to cope with the fire. He even congratulates Kyriakos Mitsotakis on yesterday's meeting at the city hall and believes that “real residents» The region knows that the government has done everything that was humanly possible.

The Minister of Health accused an angry crowd booing Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the old Penteli town hall, saying they are not… residents of the region, because he knows who they are, because he has lived here since 2007, he said. “They were different shades of left.”who booed the Prime Minister and ministers, as A. Georgiades wants to believe.

Let us recall that residents shouted at the Prime Minister to “resign”, outraged by the inability of the fire brigade and civil defense to cope with the fire front, as well as the fact that Kyriakos Mitsotakis appeared in the area ten days late. They also asked to take part in the meeting, but they were not allowed to do so and remained outside the building.

Details of what Adonis Georgiadis told Platform X:

“Yesterday afternoon I attended a meeting dedicated to another day of the Attica fire in Penteli, chaired by Prime Minister @kmitsotakis. Luckily there was a camera there and everything that was said was recorded. All mayors noted the great progress made this year. They all admitted that the state was present during the fire and that autopsies and inspections began immediately. There was not a single person, not a single one, who would say that the state left them helpless, or that they looked inside and found nothing. The state was present and is present, and this is a conquest.

Satellite photographs also showed that 8 out of 10 damaged houses did not file a report on cleaning up the surrounding area, and 2 out of 10 that did file a report were only slightly damaged. As a rule, anyone who tidied up their yard and surrounding area was not in danger.I say this because when this measure was implemented, we heard ex parte, but it worked, and we need to be more rigorous in its implementation.

Platforms for paying compensation have already been created, and measures to speed up the restoration of damage have been announced and adopted. We will not perform miracles, but having lived through this fire with my heart, since I was at that time in charge of the evacuation of Amalia Fleming, I lived through all the events minute by minute and will not agree to listen to ridiculous accusations of a non-existent state, etc. on that day.

From an operational point of view, everyone can have their own opinion on whether the helicopters should have gone one way or another, I trust the experts, I don’t want to play know-it-all, but the conditions were very difficult. We learn something from every event like this and become better.

U protesters gathered in the old town hall and shouted against the prime minister and all of us in general, photos and videos were flooded social media. I have been an elected member of parliament for this area since 2007, I have lived in this area since 2007, and I can assure you that whatever connection these protesters have with this area, I have a connection with Greenland. These were leftists of different shades, from different places, indulging in their favorite habit… protesting.

The real residents have a lot of questions and are upset that the fire penetrated so deeply into the urban fabric, but they know that we did our best that day and we will be judged on the speed of our recovery, which is a big gamble for the government. “Thank you to the Prime Minister for his initiative yesterday to bring together literally all interested parties.”

P.S. It looks like Mr. Adonis Georgiadis crossed another line beyond which an unpleasant future may await him. After all, as a reasonable person, he must understand that constant provocations against citizens and the role of “plug in every barrel” may sooner or later “come back to haunt him”. Especially when he is eventually appointed a “scapegoat”. And this will happen very soon.
