The 16-year-old boy deftly “got his hands on” mobile phones from visitors to beauty salons and hairdressers located in northern Attica.
The foreigner was arrested on a bus by the police of the North-Eastern Attica Sub-District, on charges of aggravated theft. His parents were also charged with neglect of supervision of a minor.
Specifically, the accused, at least since the end of last month, would enter the salons at midday or in the afternoon and steal mobile phones from customers. As for the modus operandi, the minor would place leaflets on tables, cover the customers' mobile phones with them, distract them, and then deftly take the phones. The boy would quickly disappear from sight, jumping into a car where his accomplice (who is currently wanted) would be waiting for him.
As part of the preliminary investigation, 11 cases of mobile phone theft were identified in Chalandri, Vrilissia and Maroussi. The detainee was brought before the competent prosecutor.
