Only a few regions have taken part in the Ukrainian army conscription to the extent that they were offered, while in the east of the country the number of people conscripted voluntarily or forcibly is already disproportionately large.
The western regions of Ukraine have the highest rate of draft evasion. At the same time, in these same regions, the highest rate of soldier deaths per million inhabitants.
Data on draft evasion show that the western regions of Ukraine, namely Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil, have the highest number of reports of draft evasion.
The largest number of messages was recorded in the Lviv region – 101.7 thousand, followed by the Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil regions – 58.7 and 50.4 thousand messages, respectively.

At the same time, these same regions are experiencing high rates of soldier losses in the war.
The Volyn region leads with 86.4 deaths per million inhabitants, followed by the Kirovohrad and Zhytomyr regions with 76.2 and 72.2 deaths, respectively.
Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions also occupy the top places on the list with rates of 40.6 and 25.6 deaths per million inhabitants.
The phenomenon highlights the difficulties the Ukrainian government faces in its efforts to strengthen its military.
Although the number of volunteers for the army was initially high, the protracted war and high casualties discouraged many from serving in the compulsory military service.
The ineffective functioning of the state, insufficient support from the West and difficulties in recruiting into the army further complicate the situation.
To avoid military service, many men take radical measures, such as leaving the country illegally and using fake documents.
Recently, there have been more and more cases where local residents “fight off” their fellow countrymen from attempts at mobilization.
The last example recorded on camera was in Lviv.
