The large-scale project of the underground section of Poseidonos Avenue is getting closer and closer to completion.
According to LAMDA Development, the tunnel will be one of the most modern in Europe, which will improve the city's road network, ensuring the fastest possible passage of vehicles. In addition, the deepened section of the road will connect the coastline with Ellinikon Park.
According to the published data, the work is more than 80% complete, the concreting of the walls is 60%. The concreting of 75% of the support slab is also complete.
Due to the underground construction (1.5 km long section) from Alimos beach to the height of the Agios Kosmas pier, traffic congestion will be reduced by removing 6 traffic lights and creating 6 traffic lanes (three in one direction and three in the other). The entire area currently occupied by the beach will be transformed into a green area that will connect the Metropolitan Park with the beach, and a bicycle path will pass through the area.
The construction of the tunnel on Poseidonos Avenue will improve the road network and facilitate access to the beach. This largest infrastructure project in Elliniko will be completed in 2026, the company said.
