Summer sales have begun – what consumers need to know

Summer sales began today, Monday, July 8, and will last until the end of August, Vice President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce Nikos Koyumtzis told ERTNEWS.

“Next Sunday, shops will be open at will, and the proposed opening hours will be from 11:00 to 18:00. We are going through a period of stagnation in the consumption sector. I believe that there will be bold discounts, which in some cases can reach even 70%.

Consumers, before deciding to make a purchase, must conduct market research, search and find the products they need either online or in person in physical stores so that they can find the best price and the best value for money.

Included in sale all products of both the current and previous seasons. Every businessman wants to “clean out his warehouse” by replacing it with autumn-winter items. And of course, he wants to sell off the leftovers, because trade is going through a difficult period,” said Mr. Koyumtsis.

Speaking of which, What consumers should pay attention tohe emphasized that the product should have a double price, one of which is the old price and the other is the new price, i.e. the one at which it is currently sold.

He emphasized that the Ministry of Development is conducting intensive checks on the market (including selective ones) in order to identify existing violations (if any). The official insists: “Beware of “left” sales and fictitious discounts, carefully research the market”.
