Official results of parliamentary elections in France (video)


Following the second round of snap parliamentary elections in France, the left-wing coalition has taken first place.

  1. The best result shows Left coalition “New Popular Front”receiving 182 parliamentary mandates;
  2. In second place – the centrist coalition of current French President Emmanuel Macron “Together for the Republic”, 168 seats in parliament;
  3. on the third – right-wing party “National Unification” Marine Le Pen and Jordana Bardella – 143 seats;
  4. Conservatives from the party Republicans win 45 seats;
  5. The remaining mandates are divided among independent deputies and representatives of small associations.

The elected French parliament will have to form a government. Jean-Luc Mélenchon, one of the leaders of the left-wing New Popular Front, which includes far-left, communist, social democratic and green forces, rejected the possibility of forming a coalition between left-wing parties and Macron's centrist bloc. He called on the French president to instruct the New Popular Front to form a government on its own.

Emmanuel Macron is also not ready to form a coalition with the leftDuring the election campaign, the French President stated this twice: in an interview with Le Parisien and after the meeting of the French cabinet on July 3.

The leaders of the right-wing National Rally, Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella, also rejected the possibility of participating in a coalition government.. Le Pen said in an interview with France Inter radio on July 2:

“We cannot accept entering government unless we have the ability to act. If we cannot change the current policy, if we cannot act, that will be the worst betrayal we can commit against our constituents.”
