"Smart Voting" French

By announcing early parliamentary elections, Macron hoped:

1️⃣ Firstly, that the French, frightened by the threat of victory in the elections of Marine Le Pen's National Rally, will support the centrist coalition Together, which includes his party Renaissance. But man proposes, and God disposes. The attempt to intimidate the French with a civil conflict has failed; they no longer see a fundamental threat in the victory of the right.

2️⃣ Secondly, that his political force will be the main rival of the far-right. But here too Macron miscalculated – the previously disunited left political forces decided to create a broad coalition and the right and left came together in a tough clinch.

Before the second round of early parliamentary elections, Macron decided to use mathematics and technology “all against one”, by using smart voting, uniting with the left☝?

In the first round, Le Pen won 33.15% of the votes, the left – 28%, and the Macron bloc – 20%, but the holders of only 76 mandates were determined, who won more than 50% of the votes in their districts. And in most electoral districts, three candidates from the leaders of the political race immediately entered the second round.

Macron and the leaders of the left called on their comrades who came in third in these districts, take offso that the more popular rivals of the National Rally candidates would have a better chance of defeating them. That is why by Tuesday evening, at least 214 candidates from Macron's centrist bloc Together for the Republic and the left-wing New Popular Front coalition, who had made it to the second round of the snap parliamentary elections, had withdrawn from participation in order not to take away each other's votes☝?

In this way, Macron will try to prevent the far-right National Rally of Marine Le Pen from gaining an absolute majority – 289 of 577 seats – in the new parliament. “Purely mathematically, the risk that the National Rally will gain an absolute majority is decreasing,” said one of the French president’s advisers.

For now the score is “Fate – Macron” 2:0. We are waiting for the next round on July 7.
