The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for S. Shoigu and V. Gerasimov

Today (25/6) the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for former Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and leading Russian general Valery Gerasimov “for crimes committed during Russia's war with Ukraine.”

The two warrants bring the total number of senior Russian officials wanted for war crimes to four, after the ICC previously issued arrest warrants for President Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova.

In 2021, Vladimir Putin appointed her Commissioner for Children’s Rights under the President of the Russian Federation. It is she who is accused of “organizing the abduction of children from Russian-occupied Ukrainian regions.”

The Athens News reported earlier that The US threatened the ICC with sanctions for issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant.
