Czech President in hospital after road accident

Czech President Petr Pavel sought help from doctors after being injured while riding a motorcycle and remains in the Central Military Hospital in Prague for several days.

Last night about it reported publication Ceske Noviny, citing information from the presidential office. Hospital spokeswoman Itka Zinke confirmed that doctors examined the injured president and hospitalized him. The duration of his stay in the medical facility has not yet been specified.

Presidential spokesman Vit Kolář told Czech television that Pavel would likely remain in hospital for several days. He noted that the president's hospitalization should not significantly affect his program due to the upcoming weekend.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala wished the president a speedy recovery. The police are not investigating because the accident occurred on a closed sports track.

The 62-year-old president of the Czech Republic is known for his passion for riding a motorcycle and indulges in it even after winning the election. Last year, Pavel, the media wrote, had to apologize after he was accidentally caught driving a motorcycle without a helmet, which is a violation of traffic rules.
