Popular French actor Gerard Depardieu struck three times in Rome against Rino Barilari, “the last of the paparazzi.”
The incident took place in a café-bar on Via Veneto, a street of the “dolce vita” of the 1960s. As a famous Italian photographer says, “a French film star was sitting at a table in a street cafe with a beautiful escort and friends.”
Hiding, the paparazzi managed to photograph them, but at the exit from the cafe, “the girl grabbed him, and Depardieu hit him three times.” The photographer complains: “I have a headache, I’m not 15 years old, now I’m almost eighty.”
The legendary Italian “paparazzi” went to the ambulance service in Rome to find out if he had a fracture, writes CNN Greece. The man is going to sue the actor. Depardieu himself was absent from the court hearing in Florence. The incident occurred on October 3, 2005. The journalist tried to photograph the star in the store where he went with his companion. According to the victim, Depardieu first beckoned him to come closer, and then suddenly hit the reporter with his head in the nose. As a result, the Italian paparazzi was forced to seek medical help.
Let us recall that in the same 2005, a drunken Depardieu caused a scandal in a talk show on French television, calling the journalist a “moron” and an “idiot” for criticizing the famous actor’s cookbook.
