Municipality of Athens: free mammography screenings from October 21

The Municipality of Athens has announced that women living in Athens can receive free mammography screenings starting October 21.

It is worth noting that mammography, organized by the Department of Municipal Clinics and Public Health together with the Association of Friends of the General Oncology Hospital “Agyi Anargyri” (“Οι Άγιοι Ανάργυροι”), is carried out “under the auspices” of the National Intermunicipal Network of Healthy Cities – Health Promotion (ΕΔΔΥΠΠΥ).

Free mammography screening will be provided in the building of the Association of Friends of the General Oncology Hospital “Οι Άγιοι Ανάργυροι”, Tirinthos 2, Ano Patisia(Τίρυνθος 2, στα Άνω Πατήσια) from 09:00 to 14:00 on the following days: Monday 21, Tuesday 22, Wednesday 23 and Tuesday 29 October 2024.

The prerequisites for gaining access to free mammography for women are:

1. Age from 40 to 69 years (residents and citizens of the municipality of Athens).
2. They have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months.
3. They have no history of breast cancer, biopsy or cosmetic breast surgery.
4. They do not have menstruation (from 3 days before to 5 days after).
5. May provide your Social Security number and previous mammogram (if available).
6. They have a valid residence permit, ID card or passport and proof of address.

Finally, we must note that an appointment will be carried out in a living queue in the 5th municipal medical center – ANO Patisia, Sarandor Street 4 (5ο δημοτικό ιατρείο – άνω πατήσια, σανταπόρου 4).
