In Germany, a Georgian gang was uncovered that exported stolen goods through Georgian Post.

A large-scale raid involving about 200 police officers took place in Germany. They searched six apartments and warehouses in Berlin, Hamburg, and the federal states of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.

12 gang members were detained, all of them are citizens of Georgia. The criminals stole millions of euros worth of bicycles, alcohol, perfumes and electrical goods throughout Germany, hid them in refugee shelters, and then sent them by mail to Georgia.

The gang was led by a 54-year-old Georgian who worked as a subcontractor for Georgian Post, the state postal operator. Several others also worked for the Georgian Post. Since March 2023, they have organized the delivery of parcels containing stolen goods from Germany to Georgia by minibuses and trucks. German police followed them for almost two years.
