AEGEAN: in search of the pilots of the future – new scholarship program 2024

AEGEAN announces the start of a new cycle of the pilot scholarship program. Greek Airlines is offering a unique opportunity to 40 young people to continue their careers as professional pilots.

Program covers a significant part of the cost of training, necessary for obtaining professional education in the field of civil aviation. Its goal is to develop the next generation of AEGEAN pilots and support the long-term development of the aviation industry in Greece.

Since 2018, the AEGEAN program has already helped more than 180 young people take their first steps into aviation. Of these, 90 already take their seats in the cockpits of AEGEAN and Olympic Air aircraft, and even more 80 candidates are currently undergoing training and education.

In collaboration with two of Greece's most recognized aviation schools – Global Aviation and Egnatia Aviation – AEGEAN ensures that participants will receive the necessary theoretical and practical training to obtain a professional pilot degree. After completing a professional degree in civil aviation, participants will continue their aircraft type training at the AEGEAN│CAE Flight Training Centre, which opened earlier this year at the company's new technical base. Upon completion of the training, participants will be provided with immediate vocational rehabilitation in the cockpits of AEGEAN and Olympic Air aircraft.

AEGEAN's total investment in the pilot scholarship program to date exceeds €7 million. The duration of the program is from 17 to 19 monthsmaking it much easier for new talent to enter a demanding and expensive pilot career. The cost of training each pilot exceeds 90,000 euros. A similar program is also being implemented to train aeronautical engineers.
