Heraklion: attack on a businessman and arrest of a lawyer

In Heraklion, a lawyer was arrested for providing information to a criminal and more. The matter took an unexpected turn.

The attack on a 69-year-old businessman from Heraklion in Crete yesterday, October 8, takes on new dimensions. ΕΛ.ΑΣ. investigates a group case of usury and extortion.

According to the police investigation, the lawyer gave the victim's financial information to the perpetrator of the beating. The criminal apparently blackmailed the businessman by gaining access to his financial data.

The perpetrator of the attack has not yet been arrested, but he is known to the police from related cases that have not yet been officially reported. Yesterday he came to the victim’s enterprise and threatened the employees to leave. The owner and victim of the attack, having received an alarm, arrived at the scene where the incident occurred.

After the attack, he went to the Heraklion police headquarters with his son, an eyewitness to the incident, where he gave detailed testimony. The 40-year-old son has been forced to resort to loans on usurious terms in recent years due to financial problems. It is alleged that he was forced to pay 1.8 million euros for the amount of 350 thousand euros, the debts “strangled” him, and he reached a dead end.

Last January writes CNN Greece, the son of the victim met the arrested 31-year-old lawyer. She allegedly calmed him down and volunteered to help. She brought him together with the 49-year-old perpetrator of yesterday's attack on a businessman to provide private services for a fee of 20,000 euros per month.

In recent months, the businessman’s son has been unable to pay the perpetrator of yesterday’s beating, and he began to apply pressure. He wanted to receive 20,000 euros in cash and for the debtor to build him a house in Kalamaki worth 100,000 euros. At the same time they sounded threats against children the son of a businessman, for example, he pointedly stated that he knew that his son attends German lessons at 21.00.

Meanwhile the lawyer began to raise doubts in the son of a businessman. As it turned out later, according to the police, she is the partner and live-in partner of the perpetrator of the beating. At some point, the lawyer transferred valuable property into her name, which the man purchased with a bank loan and was unable to repay the debt.

At the same time, the woman visited her “client” at 1:45 a.m. at his home and, allegedly, as part of a tense situation over a financial issue, called him give away “at least” a collectible Rolexwho was on it “to get it over with.” The man refused, explaining that it belonged to his father and made it clear that he could not pay the required amount.

His anxiety grew, and he asked the woman if she was really his lawyer. In response, he received an email from her, in which the woman reported that she was no longer his lawyer and suggested that he resolve all unresolved issues between them.

Last night happened another “round” of events. Upon arriving at work, the debtor discovered that his loan shark was “deliberately” installing chains in the family factory, claiming that, since the man doesn't pay, the factory now belongs to him. The 69-year-old father arrived on scene and reacted to the chains and behavior of the 49-year-old man, resulting in him being knocked down by the latter and falling to the ground. However, as can be seen from the available video materials, he continued to beat him while he was lying down.
