The Corfu woman's nightmare lasted three years, from the age of 12 to 15. And only the intervention of neighbors, who realized what was happening, rescued her from this hell.
The mother began to earn money from her daughter, only when she grew up a little. According to the woman, at the age of 8 she lost her father, who died of cancer, and remained with her mother. When she was 12 years old, her mother forced her to quit school and engage in prostitution: each meeting cost between 50 and 100 euros.
The girl refused and, in order to break her resistance, her mother gave her ouzo to drink or severely beat her. Only when the teenager turned 15 did the neighbors realize what was happening and report it to the police – that’s how she ended up in the “Child’s Smile” writes newsbeast.gr.
She immediately told the police everything, but changed her testimony when she ended up in an institution in Athens – her mother allegedly threatened to kill her if the trial against her continued. However, the police were not convinced by the amended statement exonerating the mother and continued with the judicial investigation as usual.
A new trial is expected soon, despite the fact that more than ten years have passed since the first complaint was filed. Now the victim of her own mother, the woman is 27 years old, and she told the Live News program that the trial is ongoing, and she was saved thanks to neighbors who reported to the police:
“Instead of playing with dolls, I served the men my mother brought home. I'm in pain. Just because I experienced what I experienced, it hurts. I can't sleep, I'm scared.”
