Police were informed of the incident yesterday morning and began collecting CCTV footage from stores in order to identify the culprit and proceed with his arrest. His identity has not yet been established; the investigation and interviews with witnesses are ongoing.

According to media reports, the perpetrator was wearing dark clothes with a hood, and, apparently, after his disgusting act, he returned to check if the kitten was alive.

“I’m shocked, I can’t believe that someone walks around with a knife and kills stray animals,” – Dimitra Yuvanidi said in a conversation with TAHYDROMOS, who a few days ago filed a complaint with the police after seeing a kitten with a deep wound from a knife on Erma Street in Volos. She reported this to the authorities and at the same time, by posting on social networks, told her Internet friends about “a beast that kills cats with a sharp object and pierces dogs with a screwdriver”.

In a conversation with reporters, Ms. Yuvanidi noted that over the past two weeks there have been about 10 incidents in which three dogs and seven cats were injured. “I reported this to the police and an investigation has been ongoing for several days. We are trying to find out who is committing these atrocities – one person or a gang of criminals– said Ms. Yuvanidi and continued, – I have also informed the veterinarians to report to the authorities any such incident that comes to their attention.”

Last week, at the intersection of Spiridi and Karoli streets, a dog was found in a pool of blood after being hit with a sharp object, which experts say could have led to death. Fortunately, the animal was saved.
