New ID cards: request can now be made via the id.gov.gr platform

Today, September 30, 2024, a new platform, id.gov.gr, begins its work, designed to issue new identity cards.

Using this platform, citizens will be able to easily and conveniently make digital appointments for obtaining a new type of identification card or to replace it in the event of information changes, expiration, wear and tear or age.

As noted, the new platform will increase the number of entries And reduce waiting time for citizen requests. Digital recording will be available tomorrow, Tuesday, October 1st.

Citizens can use Taxisnet codes to log into the id.gov.gr platform. This ensures that the time interval between stakeholder meetings at the same ID authority is sufficient to complete one meeting before the start of the next. The procedure for scheduling a meeting includes several steps:

  1. The citizen selects the issuing authority based on his permanent or temporary residence address in Greece, as well as a specific day and time from the list of availability, to receive the ID card in person. His data is automatically retrieved from the Citizens Register and the National Contact Register (EMEP). If he has not updated his details in EMEp, he should either do so locally or fill in the required fields on the application.

  2. Upon completion of the request, the citizen receives an email with basic information for registration, as well as contact details of the selected issuing authority.

  3. A request to schedule an appointment can be rescheduled, canceled or rescheduled up to one hour before the start of the scheduled appointment.

  4. At various intervals before the start of the scheduled meeting, the stakeholder receives a reminder from the platform on the registered email address.

It's important to note that In case of loss or theft of a police identification card, the citizen must contact the competent authority that issued it by telephone, indicating his address of permanent or temporary residence in Greece. You can request a new ID card by phone.
