Good news for farmer: bullet removed from spine, health stabilising

There has been some encouraging news regarding the health of the farmer who was tortured and shot in Rethymno, Crete.

According to local media, the victim was attacked by at least one hooded man in a barn when he went in to check on his animals.
The attacker, who remains unknown to this day
apparently was already waiting for the livestock farmer there and shot him six times in the legs and arms at the moment when the victim entered the barn. Despite his serious injuries, the farmer managed to call his son, who arrived at the scene and saved his father from certain death due to extensive bleeding.

The latest information is that doctors have removed the bullet lodged in the spine and the patient's health condition is stabilizing. Since doctors managed to stop the bleeding from the femoral artery with incredible difficulty and the patient's hemodynamic condition has stabilized, there is now optimism that the risk of losing life seems to be decreasing.

As Athens News previously wrote, shocking crime occurred in the village of Viladendro in Rethymno on the island of Crete early on Friday, September 6. The 69-year-old The livestock breeder received multiple gunshot wounds, and part of his tongue was also cut off with scissors (a large metal device used to shear sheep).

The elderly man was found in a barn on a sheep farm in Vilandero, Rethymno, by his son around 6-7am on Friday, September 6. He was immediately taken to the intensive care unit of Rethymno Hospital. The patient's life was “on the line”.

The police are investigating the brutal attack and are looking for the perpetrators. In a conversation with journalists, the victim's son said that the attackers did not wear masks or hoods. And their identification is only a matter of time, thanks to CCTV cameras, the local publication notes cretapost.gr.
