TIF: Kyriakos Mitsotakis to announce 36 new economic measures

The measures and interventions that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will announce at the Thessaloniki International Fair are “blocked”.

In particular, the Prime Minister's speech from the podium Velideos Conference Centre in Thessaloniki will include a total of 36 measures.

As the Greek government's negotiations with the Commission on securing additional budget space continue, it is noted that it will take only a few hours for the European Commission to give the green light to increase spending next year by another 500 million euros. In these circumstances, it was decided that this budget space will be allocated in small amounts, but for many social and professional groups.

Support NHS is a priority for the Prime Minister and is expected to benefit doctors in particular as on-call pay will be increased, boosting their annual income in a bid to attract doctors to the NHS.

At the same time, a separate increase for the military is being considered and it has been announced that the special excise duty refund to farmers will be made permanent, but the government will provide farmers with additional income and the Prime Minister will outline how he will support them in his speech.

As for doctors, the Prime Minister announced this today in a statement welcoming the signing of a memorandum of understanding that increases allowance for drought-stricken areas.

At the same time, an announcement is expected about increasing some benefits, such as child benefits, which will rise from 70 euros per child to 110 euros, in an attempt to address the demographic problem.

The housing allowance for vulnerable families receiving it will also be increased, and the minimum guaranteed income is expected to increase. At the same time, three-child families will be equated to large families.

Double Intervention Against Airbnb: Measures Mitsotakis to Announce at TIF

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakisis expected to announce a double intervention in short-term rentals on TIF. According to SKAIthe government is preparing to slow down Airbnb in the densely populated areas of Athens, by taking two measures:

1)Ban on issuing new licenseswithout affecting existing short-term rental properties or imposing calendar restrictions.

2) Landlords who rent out long-term properties that are rented out through Airbnb or remain closed will be exempt from paying income tax on rent for three years. It is planned to increase subsidies under the “Repair-Rent” program specifically for closed apartments.
