Unknown assailants attacked the 69-year-old herder in his sheepfold, located in the village of Vilandredos in Rethymno (Crete), and left him bleeding.
According to creta24.gr, the man, who was found by a relative, was taken to the Rethymno hospital with multiple injuries, his condition is described as extremely serious.
Despite the superhuman efforts of doctors, the man, who was shot about six times in the legs and one in the arm, still cannot stop the bleeding. And the fact that the attackers cut out his tongue is a shock.
The victim has been transferred to intensive care while police are investigating to establish the identity and location of the perpetrators.
