Attica: 17,835 fines issued for impromptu illegal car races

The Attica traffic police carried out large-scale checks throughout the summer aimed at combating with illegal impromptu speed races.

As part of these events from June to August A total of 52,415 checks were carried out in various areas of Attica. As a result, the following violations were recorded:

• 8,840 cases of failure to use protective helmets
• 2 460 failure to use seat belts
• 1,584 speeding
• 117 dangerous maneuvers
• 80 demonstration of competence.

These systematic actions also led to imposing fines for 3,013 cases of lack of a driver's license and 678 cases of lack of an insurance policy. IN516 violations were detected for using a mobile phone and 547 for not having a jammerwhich made it possible to eliminate noisy vehicles from driving on the roads.

At the same time in ELA noted that In the first 7 months of 2024, compared to the same period last year, confirmation of traffic violations increased by 21%. This was the result of increased manpower in traffic police services, particularly in major urban centres, and the implementation of a targeted network of traffic enforcement activities across the country.

“The Greek Police remains committed to ensuring road safety and calls on all citizens to respect the law. “Checks will continue,” the corresponding message says.
