On August 15, 2024, the Progress MS-28 spacecraft was successfully launched, which will deliver food and equipment to the International Space Station (ISS).
The launch took place at 6:20 a.m. Moscow time from the Baikonur Cosmodrome using the Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle. The spacecraft is expected to reach the ISS in about two days, delivering vital supplies for the crew and equipment to the station.

In addition, two astronauts who were stuck in space due to a technical malfunction of the Boeing Starliner spacecraft, on board which they were making a test flight, will remain on board the station for some time.
Russia's Progress spacecraft is carrying more food than usual to ensure the ISS crew is well-fed.
NASA held a press conference on 08/14, stating from the start that it had No «no serious statements” about the return of the astronauts, but only updated information on their condition. As for the decision to return, NASA will accept it at the end of August.
If returning on the Starliner proves impossible, they will use a SpaceX flight, which will extend their stay in orbit by several months. According to some reports, the possibility of returning astronauts on the Russian Soyuz spacecraft is also being considered, although the likelihood of this happening is currently very low.
