Kefalonia: Elite mega-yacht with tourists on board sank and ran aground (video)

The luxury yacht ETHOS, which was flying the Maltese flag and had five tourists and crew on board, began to sink and ran aground while sailing near the island of Kefalonia.

The cause was the cabin door – one of the crew members left it open, not noticing the emergency change in weather. As a result, the yacht, taking on water, tilted and sank, and then ran aground along with five of the richest tourists and service personnel, writes Daily Mail.

The 150-foot vessel, which had lost its balance, was spotted in the waters off the Ionian Sea port of Kefalonia, in Evretis Bay, tells Greek edition of Πρώτο Θέμα. The tourists and service personnel on board the yacht have been safely delivered to shore. Pumping out water from the vessel has begun. A diver will inspect the yacht for possible damage to the bottom. Two port employees are monitoring the work.

Built in 2014, this stunning yacht is available for private charter and invites guests to enjoy a “warm and welcoming” atmosphere in the Greek sun. The vessel can accommodate 12 guests and nine crew members. There are 12 berths on board, a master cabin and two VIP cabins.

Charterers looking for a quiet and comfortable stay can expect a yacht charter to cost from £150,000 (€178,042.50), up to £180,000 per week plus expenses in high season. It offers luxury cabins, a gym, sauna, deck Jacuzzi and jet skis.

However, this time, due to a mistake by one of the crew members, the vacation was not so comfortable. However, it is possible that extreme sports enthusiasts, if there were any on board, will like this adventure and will remember their trip to the shores of Greece for a long time.
