Greek Foreign Ministry recommends avoiding travel to Israel, Iran, Lebanon and the Palestinian territories

The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminds Greek citizens that, as before, travel to Israel, Lebanon and the Palestinian territories remains undesirable.

The Foreign Ministry recommends avoiding travel to the above-mentioned regions, citing similar recommendations from October 15, 2023. The ministry recalls that tensions in the Middle East are not easing and there are several fronts. The announcement calling on Greek citizens to avoid travel to these regions was published on Monday, July 29. The message emphasizes that quotes CNN Greece:

“The recommendation to avoid, except for essential purposes, travel to Israel, Lebanon, the Palestinian territories and Iran remains in effect from 15 October 2023.”

The situation in the war between Israel and Lebanon is “evolving rapidly” and could escalate “without warning.” The United States, Britain, France, Germany, Ukraine and several other countries have issued new travel advisories urging people not to visit Lebanon. Citizens currently in the country are advised to leave immediately.

How writes The Guardian, The UK Foreign Office is asking British nationals not to expect to be evacuated quickly in an emergency. The US embassy in Beirut has urged Americans to develop a “crisis plan” and ensure their safety “before a crisis occurs”.
