Three people were injured in a collision near Avlida when a truck swerved and crashed into a train.
The accident occurred when a truck veered off course on the ring road near Avlida and ended up on the railway tracks, colliding with a passing train, No. 1551, which was travelling on the Chalkida-Athens route.
The victims were taken to hospital in Chalkida, and the company added in a statement that no one was seriously injured. According to Hellenic Train, the driver of the truck apparently lost control of the vehicle and the two drivers managed to escape before the collision.
The accident brought traffic between Oinoe and Chalkida to a standstill. A fire brigade was on site, pulling out 130 passengers, and buses were sent to evacuate them. Six fire brigades with three vehicles were sent to the scene. The buses will take the passengers to Oinoe, from where they will travel to their destination by train.
