Police chase in Menidi, police officer injured


At midday on Wednesday (24/07) in the Acharne (Menidi) area there was a chase, as a result of which a policeman was injured.

It all happened at about 2:10 p.m., when A 29-year-old man approached a temporarily parked car and, using force, immobilized the 55-year-old driver and took his bagwhich contained a mobile phone and an unknown amount of money. He then got into a car and disappeared. However, he did not manage to get far, as he was spotted by police officers at the intersection of Iktinu and Alevisu streets.

When the police stopped the car for inspection, the driver increased speed, which led to a chase. On Ag. Loukas Street in the Heraklion area, a car collided with parked cars, as a result of which it was immobilized and the driver fled on foot.

A few meters later he was stopped by police officers, and during their arrest he put up strong resistance, injuring himself. the policeman's right handHe was eventually arrested and the officer was taken to 401 for first aid.

The man is charged with robbery, resisting police, criminal mischief and disobedience.
