On the morning of Wednesday, July 24, the fire brigade was alerted to a leak of an unknown chemical substance in an industrial area of Thessaloniki.
30 firefighters in three vehicles, including a special chemical protection team, were dispatched to the scene. The mobilization was prompted by a call at 08:24 about smoke coming from the company's premises.
It is noted that it was deemed necessary to evacuate the premises and nearby businesses while the leak was checked and the containers were removed. The preliminary investigation is being conducted by the relevant fire department.
