The current number of swimming pools on the island of Paros already exceeds 1,200. And residents are clearly concerned that they “will not have enough water” for their daily needs.

A recent article on ROSA was devoted to the issue of swimming pools on Paros, but it seems that they are the quantity is significantly underestimatednotes the post in “Save Paros”: “In 2012, we started counting the pools using available satellite data, Google images, and just out of curiosity. After publishing the article, we updated our map. Impressively, our current count is now over 1,200 pools. And that's without even covering all of Paros, let alone Antiparos. We invite you to take a look at our map. The sheer number of pools is staggering and highlights an important issue of overconsumption of water that many may not be fully aware of.”
Several inhabitants of the island express their indignation at the waste of water resourcesA typical comment on social media reads: “Pool users should stop filling their pools from the public supply and fill them with water from private wells. Water supplies are reaching their lowest point!”
