Times: 28 Ideal Places to Visit in Greece in 2024

The annual list of “28 ideal places to visit in Greece”, recently published by the British newspaper The Times, has been expanded with new tourist destinations.

The popular newspaper unconditionally recommends Greece for 2024 among other competitors, emphasizing that “the Mediterranean country’s beautiful seas and beaches, beautiful islands and wild mountain landscapes, traditional villages, historic cities, excellent food and wine, impressive archaeological sites, vibrant nightlife, clear skies and starry nights perfectly characterize a unique place in the world that deserves to be visited again and again.”

At the top of the list this year is Andros, with its dozens of kilometers of hiking trails. Next up are Corfu with its epic landscapes, Kefalonia for hours of exploration, cosmopolitan Hydra, Evia for the feeling of being “in another era”, Aegina for the perfect combination of nature and urban environment, Kos for family holidays, Kythnos for a journey into the past, Lefkada for water sports, Zagorochoria for hiking, Meganisi for an escape from everyday life and Milos for enjoying the bloom of nature.

Then there is Naxos with its exotic waters and network of walks, atmospheric Patmos, Paxos with its sea caves, picturesque Spetses, Rhodes – the ruler of antiquity and the Middle Ages, Sifnos for gourmets, Skopelos for relaxation and walks, Skiathos with its beautiful coastline, Poros for tasting seafood, Symi with its beautiful harbour, Pelion for year-round experiences, Halkidiki with its luxury resorts, Mani with something out of the ordinary, virgin Tilos, Kythira with its waterfalls and Kalymnos for rock climbing.

Representatives of destinations that have been added or promoted to this year's list cite the characteristics and dynamics of the tourist season: “The efforts of professionals and the municipality to expand the season in Andros have begun to bear fruit. This year there has been an impressive increase in attendance, which has exceeded 30% compared to last year..

Our mission is to present the potential of this place for a true holiday in the bosom of nature, which has no equal in the Cyclades. Diversity of entertainment, relaxation, exotic untouched beaches, mountain wildlife, good food, walks through picturesque villages, historical monuments and greenery, as well as genuine hospitality – these are the secret “ingredients” of paradise just two hours from Attica.“, – notes the authorized municipal councilor for tourism of the municipality of Andros, Nikos Moustakas.
