Stoltenberg: Ukraine has the right to self-defense and strike deep into Russia

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on July 10 that Ukraine should have the right to strike Russian territory as part of its right to self-defense.

The Secretary General of the alliance emphasized that this is a war of conquest, Russia attacked its neighbor and violated international law:

“According to international law, Ukraine has the right to self-defense. We help Ukraine to realize its right to self-defense by supplying weapons and equipment, including long-range missiles, in particular, ATACMS.”

Stoltenberg welcomed the US decision to ease restrictions on the use of long-range missiles on Russian territory, as it again attacked the Kharkiv region and fighting began along almost the entire front line.

Edgars Rinkevics, the President of Latvia, called for a discussion at the Washington summit to allow Ukraine to use all transferred weapons without any restrictions.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the United States for the new Patriot systems, but noted that they are not enough.
