Four young men arrested after chase – they were riding stolen motorcycles

Police officers from the DIAS Motorized Squad have arrested four young men who were found to be driving two stolen motorcycles after attempting to commit a robbery in the Moshato area. Evidence obtained after their arrest also revealed a case of robbery committed by one of the arrested men.

“Arrested at noon on 7-07-2024 in the Moshato area by police officers from the DIAS – Direct Action Directorate – 4 young men, aged 18, 17 and 15, accused – depending on the circumstances – of attempted robbery by incitement, theft by joint theft, and receiving and disposing of the proceeds of crime. In addition, the 18-year-old teenager is charged with aggravated robbery.

In particular, patrol police officers noticed the above-mentioned accused in the Moschatos area on two motorcycles that clearly showed signs of theft. The accused, upon seeing the police officers, abandoned their motorcycles and attempted to flee on foot, however, despite their attempt to escape, the aforementioned police officers immobilized them and took them to the Moskhato-Tavros Security Department, which conducted a preliminary investigation.

During the investigation it was established that the motorcycles had been stolen in the previous days in the area of ​​Paleo Faliro, and an attempted robbery had been committed by the accused a little earlier in the area of ​​Moschato. In particular, the accused approached one of the residents and, using physical violence, attempted to take his wallet, but were unsuccessful in this, as the victim ran away.

In addition, the participation of an 18-year-old teenager in the case of a robbery of a resident of the Moskhato district, which occurred in the evening hours of 5-07-2024, was established, where, together with accomplices and using physical force, he took away a mobile phone, which was confiscated and returned to the owner.

The arrested persons were delivered to the competent prosecutor.”
