UK: No More Migrants to Rwanda

Britain's new prime minister, Keir Starmer, said on Saturday that the plan to deport migrants to Rwanda was “dead and buried”.

He stressed, reports AP that he is abandoning a controversial Conservative plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda. In his first press conference, Starmer said the scheme, which would have deported migrants to Rwanda, was “dead and buried before it even began. It never acted as a deterrent. Quite the contrary.”

Starmer also said he was “committed to change” but could not say how soon Britons would see improvements in living standards or public services:

“We have a huge amount of work ahead of us, so we're getting started.”
