Tragic ending in Corfu: missing American tourist found dead

The search for the missing person ended tragically on June 11 55-year-old American touristwho disappeared from the island of Matraki in Corfu.

On Thursday 13/06, a friend of the Greek-American man, who is from Matraka and provided him with accommodation, reported him missing. According to the president of the Matraki community, Spyros Argyros, missing tourist arrived on island 10 days agohe saw him sitting in a cafe last Tuesday evening (11/06) with two tourists who had left Matraki.

In the house where the man stayed, his personal belongings and clothes were found, but his passport, according to Mr. Argyros, was missing.

In the last 10 days 7 people missing3 of them have already been found dead, this Michael Mosley, 67-year-old BBC presenter55 year old American and 74 year old Dutch tourist who disappeared on the island of Samos. The search for the remaining missing persons is underway.

At the same time, the probability of a positive outcome decreases every day.

A Greek-American tourist who had been holidaying on the island and no trace of him since last Thursday (13/06) was found at noon on Sunday in the old harbor on the rocks at Contrakas. According to kerkyrasimera.gr, the unfortunate tourist was not wearing any clothes.

He was found at 1:30 p.m. by a hiker who alerted authorities and they investigated to determine his whereabouts. His body will be transferred to Corfu Hospital for an autopsy. Initial reports indicate it was not a criminal act, but a forensic report is expected to shed light on the cause of his death.
