The G7 summit starts in Italy, the security level has been increased to maximum (video)

The security level at the Italian resort of Borgo Egnazia in Puglia, in connection with the G7 summit opening there, has been increased to the maximum. The meeting takes place in a luxury hotel with a Michelin star restaurant.

At the meeting of G7 leaders, it is expected a decision will be approved to use profits from frozen Russian assets to provide financial assistance to Ukraine, writes Euronews, – Ukraine will be given a $50 billion loan secured by income from frozen assets of the Russian Federation.

This will be the main issue at the summit, which is being hosted by Italy, which currently chairs the group. Most of the frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank, approximately $260 billion, are located in the European Union. An agreement on their use was reached before the G7 leaders arrived in Italy. The summit is expected to develop a mechanism for implementing this plan.

The level of security at the picturesque Italian resort is unprecedented. These considerations dictate the choice of meeting place: it is much easier to control a small city than, for example, a large metropolis such as Rome.

India, Brazil and South Africa, which together with Russia are members of the BRICS association, as well as the leaders of Algeria, Jordan, Kenya, Mauritania (chairman of the African Union), UAE, Tunisia, Turkey and the heads of a number of international organizations are invited to the summit.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is expected to sign the Borgo Egnazia separate bilateral security agreement with US President Joe Biden.
