Level "kindergarten" or "an eye for an eye": North Korean garbage sent to South Korea

More than 150 balloons filled with… garbage crossed the border between North and South Korea and fell, covering the territory of the latter with waste.

This is not an accident – the DPRK purposefully sent unusual “parcels” reports the largest South Korean news agency Yonhap, citing the Seoul military.

Since Tuesday evening, the balloons have crossed the border and crashed in various locations across the country, reaching as far as the southeastern province of South Gyeongsang, according to the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Inside the bags tied to the balls there was a variety of garbage – old batteries, plastic bottles, parts of shoes and even… manure. A spokesman for the Joint Chiefs of Staff stated:

“These actions by North Korea clearly violate international law and seriously threaten the safety of our people. We strongly warn North Korea to immediately cease its inhumane and vulgar actions.”

North Korea called its actions a “tit for tat” action – it did this in response to leaflets calling for the overthrow of the Pyongyang regime, which activists sent from South Korean territory also using balloons.

However, the “garbage launch” was much more successful than the other launch. North Korea said its attempt to launch a new military reconnaissance satellite ended in failure on Monday when the engine of a newly developed rocket exploded in flight. reports Reuters agency.
