Coincidence? Factory implicated in Lamia child poisoning case destroyed by fire (video)


An unexpected continuation of the case of mass food poisoning of schoolchildren in Lamia: the enterprise involved in the incident was completely destroyed by fire.

And today, the factory involved in the case of mass food poisoning of children was completely destroyed by fire. A fire broke out at the Giannitsi plant in the industrial zone of Lamia at 9.30 pm yesterday for no apparent reason.

A few minutes after the call, writes newsbeast.gr edition, firefighters from 7η ΕΜΑΚ, located 200 meters from the plant, began to extinguish the fire. The flames engulfed most of the business as firefighters from various departments tried to contain it. Upon alarm, fire trucks and water tankers from all over Phthiotida moved to the industrial zone of Lamia, and the fire spread throughout the building.

Within 45 minutes, the roof of the plant collapsed and thick black smoke and flames could be seen from the Lamia-Thessaloniki highway. 40 firefighters with 18 vehicles and special armored vehicles arrived at the scene. Firefighters tried to get inside the plant wearing special masks, wanting to exclude the possibility of workers being inside the plant, but strong explosions of gas tanks intensified the flames.

Some of the workers who were the first to arrive at the plant went out onto the station square to move cars, mostly work trucks, away from the fire. Some of them, although they managed to catch fire, were taken to the fire department to extinguish the flames.

According to the Lamia report, there were no employees at the business at the time of the fire and no one was in danger. There were even explosions of materials inside.

Dozens of lawsuits have been filed over the food poisoning that affected more than 60 students at seven Lamia schools, said Christos Papantonis, a member of the town's Primary 7 Parents and Guardians Association.

At the same time, the incident intervened CUSTODY. As highlighted, all prescribed control procedures in schools and in the enterprise that prepares, packs and distributes school meals in Lamia primary schools have been initiated by the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family and the Social Benefits Organization.
