Turkish media are reporting the agenda that Kyriakos Mitsotakis will discuss with Turkish President Erdogan on Monday, which they say includes “division” of the wealth of the eastern Mediterranean and the solution of the Cyprus problem.
Of course, the Greek government must answer the question of whether what the Turkish media are saying is true, but what is certain is what they are announcing: they want the Turkish president to be “heard.” In particular, they report:
“Preparations have been completed in Athens and we are waiting for the Greek Prime Minister in Ankara. Developments in the Eastern Mediterranean are expected to be one of the main issues of discussion.Türkiye is exploring for gas in the Black Sea and continues seismic research in the Eastern Mediterranean. The natural resources of the Mediterranean must be shared among neighboring states and we expect President Erdogan to send a similar message to Mitsotakis.”
Also one of the important issues on the agenda will be the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Cyprus problem,” – emphasizes the HABER GLOBAL TV channel. “Turkey has repeatedly stated that it insists on a two-state solution, and the meeting between the two leaders will discuss steps that can be taken for permanent peace and stability on the island,” – the publication adds.
In short, the agenda is set and it is purely Turkish. Will the Prime Minister discuss and negotiate on these issues? What is Greece's agenda? What exactly is Kyriakos Mitsotakis claiming?
PS After Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s aunt essentially flushed Greece’s many years of diplomatic efforts to support Serbia down the toilet, no one will be surprised that Northern Cyprus will also be easily flushed. The only problem is the price of the issue.
