For the second year in a row, Greece has been crowned the top travel destination for Norwegians in 2024 as our country has won yet another award, as it did in 2023.
Greece’s The best foreign Tourist Office was reportedly voted the best, as announced at the annual Grand Travel Awards (GTA) held on January 11, 2024 in Oslo, Norway.
The Grand Travel Awards (GTA) have been recognizing the best for 26 years in a row. The ceremony is covered by the professional travel magazine “Reis” and the Travel News website of Norway and Sweden, representing the most important annual event in the tourism industry.

The fact that Norwegians “loved Greece with all their hearts” was confirmed immediately after our country was awarded at the international tourism fair Reiselivsmessen/Travelxpo 2024, held from January 13 to 14 at the Telenor Arena in Oslo, Norway.
166 companies from all over the world took part in Reiselivsmessen/Travelxpo 2024, including tourism offices and representatives of government tourism organizations.
Visitors, estimated by organizers to number around 10,000, showed a particular interest in Greece and, in particular, in alternative tourism destinations that combine natural resources (mountains and sea). In addition, another important incentive to visit Hellas is traditional Greek cuisine.
As highlighted, Greece is one of Norwegians’ favorite travel destinations, with a high level of repeat visits, especially from the 50+ age group.
These are people who travel on average four times (to the same country), have a high level of income, appreciate the cultural richness of the region, the authentic natural environment and, of course, the unique Greek cuisine.
