The son of the deceased Yevgeny Prigozhin, Pavel, became the new head of the Wagner PMC – Russian media reported this. However, the State Duma called the information fake.
A representative of the organization in the Perm region announced the recruitment of Wagnerites, writes 59.ru. The group has become a unit of the Russian Guard, but the structure – the order of work and commanders – remains the same. The regional office clarified:
“Everything is the same, except Molkino. The Wagner base will be located in the Rostov region.”
The VChK-OGPU telegram channel previously wrote that Pavel Prigozhin is negotiating the transfer of PMC mercenaries to the control of Viktor Zolotov’s department in order to “preserve the brand and assets.” The Gray Zone channel close to Wagner confirmed this information.
Yevgeny Prigozhin said that at the age of 18 his son completed military service in the army and then went to war in Syria:
“Since then, he has been and is constantly in hot spots as part of the Wagner PMC, where he received his first Black Cross.”
The businessman also said that his son is fighting in Donbass. In accordance with the will, almost all of Prigozhin’s property was transferred to Pavel, and his daughters received a small part of the assets.
How writes Ura.ru publication, Pavel Prigozhin has been engaged in entrepreneurial activity for five years. In 2018, he founded the Beta company, and since 2020 he has headed Lakhta Plaza. His companies specialize in the construction of luxury real estate in St. Petersburg. He is also the owner of the Lakhta Park residential complex.
The Wagner Group, as previously reported, has resumed accepting contract soldiers to be sent to Ukraine and other countries. Those wishing to sign a contract must be between 20 and 55 years old. Payment starts from 80 thousand rubles – the amount depends on the location and type of activity. Participants in hostilities are promised 240 thousand rubles. The minimum contract period is six months. In addition to Russians, foreign citizens are also recruited into the ranks of PMCs.
An indispensable condition is that applicants must not have an outstanding criminal record, be on the wanted list, under police supervision or under recognizance not to leave. “Wagner” emphasized that persons who transferred from the group to the structures of the Ministry of Defense and the volunteer detachments under its control will not be accepted back.
In turn, State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein called the information about the recruitment of mercenaries to the Wagner PMC, which, as the media wrote, became part of the Russian Guard, fake.
“I have repeatedly commented on such rumors, caused, among other things, by our bills on the right of the Russian Guard to create volunteer formations. I will repeat again. There is and cannot be any talk of PMCs joining the Russian Guard. Former fighters will be able to enter into contracts as volunteers only in individually. The structural absorption of PMCs by the Russian Guard is impossible by definition,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.
The deputy added, writes NEWS.ru publication that representatives of the Wagner PMC also denied rumors spreading on the Internet. At the same time, the media publishing them could not explain where they got such information.
