Head of PMC "Wagner" planned to capture Shoigu and Gerasimov, but everything went well "not this way"

Yevgeny Prigozhin developed a plan to capture Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, who was going to carry out during the rebellion.

However, according to The Wall Street Journal, citing intelligence from Western intelligence agencies, two days before the Wagner raid, the FSB found out about Prigozhin’s intentions, and not only that. Thanks to the interception of electronic messages and satellite images, foreign intelligence services also became aware of this.

Preparing the rebellion, the mercenaries managed to accumulate a large amount of ammunition, fuel and equipment. Western intelligence also suggests that Prigozhin informed some Russian high-ranking military officers about his intentions, in particular, the commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Sergei Surovikin, the newspaper writes.

The Kremlin denies this information, Dmitry Peskov said during a press call in response to a request to comment on the information of an American newspaper:

“Now there will be a lot of various speculations around these events, gossip and so on. I think this is one of such examples.”

Recall that during the well-known events, Surovikin recorded a video message in which he publicly condemned the actions of the “Wagnerites” and called on the PMC fighters to return to their places of deployment. On the evening of June 24, the press service of the President of Belarus reported that Alexander Lukashenko had agreed to resolve the conflict.

Meanwhile, the media report that the Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces, Deputy Commander of the Russian group in Ukraine, Sergei Surovikin, has been arrested. There is no official confirmation of this.
