E. Antonaros on the Tempi disaster: “Hellenic Train and TRAINOSE leaders should have been arrested”

Former government spokesman and member of parliament Evangelos Antonaros in his interview with Tassos Guriotis on the Black Monday program on the TV channel Pronewsspeaking of the Tempi crime, stated the obvious: “Arrest the Hellenic Train Italians and the TRAINOSE executives.”

Referring to the paradox of the Italian company Hellenic Train, which just … collects revenue from the railway tracks and does not show up anywhere after the Tempe tragedy, he said: “As soon as the accident happened, I went to the Hellenic Train website and discovered that this company is run by a board of directors, all of whose members are persons with Italian surnames. I am impressed that there is not a single Greek and not a single Greek woman on the board of directors. This is a violation of the law. For example in the case of Cosmote, it is controlled by Deusche Telecom, however its management is Greek and its board members are Greek.

Secondly, when such an event occurs, they say who is the administrator? What we do: For reasons of injunction, you go and detain him. And you are not allowed to leave the country. Until it turns out he’s guilty or not. This was not done. The absence of Greeks on its board of directors is not mentioned anywhere. And thirdly, this company is invisible other than the initial announcement! This is not mentioned anywhere. It’s like someone is protecting her from Greek law….

As a result, they cannot tell us that they are catching an inadequate station manager and restricting everything to him. However, there are other levels of responsibility. In other words, this is: first – the one who presses the buttons to switch paths. Second – a company that monitors all this and collects money.

Here we learn that the company cannot say how many tickets were sold for this particular train. In fact, I was told that, contrary to what they said, many people boarded the train at Larisa station without purchasing tickets at the box office. Is it possible not to know this? How many people are on the train at any given time?

“What happened in Tempe is unimaginable. If the rules applied in the rest of the European Union had been applied, this would not have happened. It’s like telling me that a large passenger plane flies without a co-pilot. Can we understand it? Unthinkable. Or is it the same as saying that this plane will fly without air traffic controllers or without the necessary technical systems. And so they allowed two trains to run, one from the north and one from the south, with a driver on each train or someone in charge.

And suddenly everyone says that the head of the station is to blame for everything. The stationmaster apparently made a fatal human error. But to avoid fatal human error, there must be another control mechanism. Those who have been to the countries of northern and central Europe know that there are dense railway lines. Here we have two or three lines, and in recent years we have not been able to implement such obvious things as automation”…

“The resignation of the minister does not solve the issue. Why do we need to see what rights are affected here? The right to life has been violated. What has been lost is the greatest right. The state is obliged to take care of citizens, and not just “cut” taxes from them.Seeing all this, you wonder what is happening in the field of public transport? Who controls them? Are they on their own? Is the state trying to relieve itself of the responsibility of taking care of citizens by means of privatization?

After that, Evangelos Antonaros said very important things about the stationmaster of Larissa, who, as it turned out, had recently become a stationmaster, and before that he held various positions, for example, he was a porter in ose or an employee of the Ministry of Education, in short, a person aged 60 years (when it is already forbidden to hold such a position), besides having received insufficient education …

“We read, heard and did not deny that this person was a transferred employee from the Ministry of Culture. What does temporary worker mean? It is they who are hired at the suggestion and will of a politician to work in his political office. And they remain in that position as long as that person remains in that position. When he leaves, they leave with him. So who is this person? It should come to the surface.”

Referring also to the transferred employee of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the son of the prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Isidoros Dogiakos, he said:

“It is unacceptable that the prosecutor of the Supreme Court, who is received by his son, advises a minister who can be prosecuted. Now I learn that he is also a consultant in one of the companies of the railway network.

Shouldn’t the son, now that Father Dogiakos is suing this matter, should I say that I am suspending my activities in this company? What will happen if he meets with his father or with prosecutors who are subordinate to his father?”

When asked about the intertwining of three powers in Greece (executive, legislative and judicial), which should be separated, E. Antonaros said:

“This is a problem created by the presence of families in the networks of power and the failure to follow the basic rules of ethics.”

As for the upcoming elections, E. Antonaros said regarding the timing of the elections that K. Mitsotakis should announce the elections by the end of June. He believes that they can be held even in August (the government of Mitsotakis has the right to hold them even on August 13).

“I think that Kyriakos Mitsotakis will try to postpone the elections until as late as possible. The tragedy in Tempi, apparently, confirms the idea that we will have elections later than April 9th. This is his right, since the idea of ​​holding elections on April 9, when 40 days will be celebrated from the date of the catastrophe of the people who unjustly died in this tragedy, will be disadvantageous for him.”
