An armed robber who emptied pharmacies and minimarkets was given away… "Fisherman's Panama"

A robber in a “fisherman's hat” and a strange mask, who “operated” in pharmacies and minimarkets, “fell into the hands of the police.”

The 46-year-old robber has carried out 12 attacks on women in the last month alone, robbing them of tens of thousands of euros. CCTV footage from stores helped lead to his arrest because the police were able to identify him.

According to the investigation, the accused mid-August committed armed robberies against employees pharmaciesand also shops in the territory of Attica.

As for his method of action, it turned out that he would approach his destination mainly during the day and evening hours on a “work” bicycle, which was parked either in front of the entrance or nearby. He would then enter the store and, approaching an employee, point a gun at him, demanding that he hand over money.

The robber used physical violence to take money from the cash register. He then escaped on his bicycle.

A characteristic feature of his actions is taking high levels of self-defense to avoid being identified. In most cases, he tried to hide his facial features using a surgical or fabric mask, a “fisherman's” hat, sunglasses, and even a motorcycle helmet. In addition, when committing his criminal acts, he preferred to change parts of his clothes so as not to connect and associate him with previous actions. It is also noteworthy that the accused chose as his potential female victimshaving done betting on their possible inability to resist him.

An indicative element of his actions is that in the period from 14.08.2024 to 03.09.2024, i.e. within 20 days, he committed 10 cases of armed robbery (including one attempt). The amount stolen was 13,345 euros.

Law enforcement agencies conducted an investigation taking into account all the data. As a result of the analysis of video materials and other investigations, it was possible to identify the “bicycle” on which the criminal committed the robbery, and then the identity of the robber in the “fisherman's Panama”.
