Explosion at event site on 35 km of Athens-Sounio highway

On Monday, shortly after midnight, an explosion occurred on the 35th kilometer of the Athens-Sounion highway, in the Agia Marina Koropi area.

It is reported that the explosive device was planted by unknown persons on a bench.

According to the same information, the explosion damaged the fence, as well as the windows of two neighboring stores.

Police officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department who arrived at the scene found the remains of an explosive device consisting of a slow-burning fuse, a detonator and explosive material.

The preliminary investigation of the case was conducted by the department for combating crimes against life and property. Judging by the handwriting, the explosion was either the work of racketeers who thus decided to convince the owner of the “establishment” to come under their “protection”, or the machinations of competitors.
