OPEN: first footage and details of the attack in Lavrion.
Two children were in the house
At the time of the attack, two young children of the woman and the suspect were in the house.
According to Greek media, the children were sleeping in the next room. The first publications indicated an age of approximately from one and a half to three years.
It is the presence of children that makes this case particularly difficult: the attack actually took place inside a family home where minors were present.
The victims were seriously injured
Both victims were taken to Asklipio Voulas.
According to ProtoThema, the woman was diagnosed with severe stab wounds, including in the back and chest. She was later transferred to another hospital for further treatment.
A 33-year-old man also suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
The woman contacted the police several times
After the attack, it became known that the relationship between the former partners had been accompanied by conflicts and complaints for a long time.
According to ProtoThemathe woman contacted the police five times for episodes related to threats, family conflict and other violations.
She was also given Panic Button — an emergency police call system used in cases of domestic violence.
OPEN: Woman’s relative talks about previous threats and use of Panic Button.
He had already been detained before
The 32-year-old man was known to police before the new attack.
In particular, September 3, 2026 he had already been detained on charges of making threats in a domestic dispute and violating weapons laws.
According to Greek media, during that arrest they found a cutting tool and a metal object in his possession.
After the attack he surrendered to the police
After the incident, the man came to the Lavreotiki police station on his own.
Materials have been formed against him in the case of attempted murder. The investigation is being carried out by the relevant Lavreotika police unit.
Why does this case raise additional questions?
Particular attention is now focused not only on the attack itself, but also on what preceded it.
The woman contacted the police several times, used Panic Button, and the suspect was already detained and, according to media reports, was under restrictive measures.
The investigation will have to establish what measures were in place at the time of the attack and why they were unable to prevent a new episode of violence.
Editorial commentary from the Athens News. In this case, not only the brutality of the attack itself is especially important, but also its background: the woman’s numerous calls to the police, Panic Button and the previous arrests of the suspect. It is the effectiveness of pre-existing protective measures that now becomes one of the key issues.
