Four unknown assailants opened fire at a cafe in the Agios Panteleimonas area of Athens. As a result, a 10-year-old girl was injured. The attackers fled in a car, which was later found burned in Aspropyrgos.
The incident occurred around 23:50 on Agorakritou Street, 32. According to ERT, a car containing four people drove past the cafe, after which the car opened fire on the facade of the establishment.
At the time of the attack there were about 10 visitors. Part of the display window was broken by the shooting.
As a result, she suffered 10 year old girl. She was wounded in the left shin area and was taken by her mother to a children’s hospital. Her life is not in danger.
At the same time, in the first official reports it remained unclear whether the child’s injury was directly from a bullet or caused by a piece of broken glass.
“The bullet passed very close to my head”
Athens News was able to obtain testimony from a cafe employee who was inside during the attack.
According to her, the shooting was very intense. The woman claims that after the attack, police found about 20 bullets or hit marks.
One of the bullets, as she told our editors, passed very close to her head. First, the woman hid behind the bar counter, and then moved behind the bar itself.
There, she said, she saw several more hit marks.
The cafe employee also reported that A 10-year-old girl was shot in the leg. Another visitor who was in the establishment, according to her, received cuts to her head and face from fragments of broken windows.
The Athens News cites these details as eyewitness testimony. The number of hits and details of the second casualty have not yet been confirmed by police.
